Tim's Notes

An alternate version of Goulash. Haven't made this yet.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 4 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1-1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (more if needed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (more if needed)

Directions

  1. Heat large Dutch oven over medium high heat. Add the beef, and brown for 10 minutes, breaking up with the back of your wooden spoon as you stir. Add the onion and bell pepper and continue to cook, while stirring, until tender, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients, except the macaroni, and cover with a lid, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Stir in the macaroni, cover with the lid, and simmer for another 15-20 minutes until pasta is tender. Remove from heat
  4. Let mixture stand for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with a green salad and garnish with fresh parsley.
