Chop Suey

This is a family recipe graciously shared by Kat. I haven't made or tested this yet, but hope to do so very soon in my new wok.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Pork roast sliced into strips
- Medium onion sliced thinly
- 2 ribs celery sliced thinly
- Large carrot sliced in matchstick cuts
- Clove garlic peeled and smashed
- Slice of ginger
- 2 handfuls bean sprouts washed and trimmed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dry white wine
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 c water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Directions
- Parboil carrots 1 minute- set aside
- Put oil in wok- lightly fry ginger and garlic for flavor.. remove and discard
- Add carrots, celery and onion.. lightly fry
- Add seasoned pork roast- fry until done
- Add bean sprouts- lightly fry
- Add cornstarch to water- add soy sauce, sugar, and starch water to wok- cook to # thickened.
- Serve on rice.
